MINDFULNESS COURSES

All group courses are run over 8 weekly sessions and are facilitated by 1-2 experienced clinical psychologists. Each group has a maximum of 8-12 participants, allowing individuals to gain confidence in applying the training. Mindfulness is the foundation of all training provided at Mind Potential.
Mindfulness is most simply defined as moment to moment awareness with kindness. Participants of mindfulness meditation are encouraged to step out of habitual patterns of judgment and rumination as they fully engage with life as it unfolds. Mindfulness allows us to develop equanimity regarding the content of our experience and this serves to promote well-being.

The mindfulness training offered is challenging and intensive. Participants are expected to meditate for about 40 minutes a day and to integrate the course in their daily lives in other ways. Many people attending this mindfulness training experience profound gains. These range from improved sleep to feeling more 'whole' and 'connected' in their lives.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is the format that training is provided in. Mind Potential courses are offered for those who have been affected by cancer or chronic health conditions. This eight week course based on mindfulness meditation and cognitive therapy aims to increase wellbeing, support adjustment and decrease psychological distress. The out-of-pocket cost per 2 hour session for those eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP is $15. Please contact Beth for information about the next available course.
