INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS
Individual therapy sessions utilise evidenced-based therapy. This means that the therapeutic approach has been extensively researched to be shown that it is effective in treating the issues that you are struggling with. Individual therapy is usually short term (generally a 6-12 sessions). However therapy is flexible and will depend on the issues you are presenting with and the goals you wish to achieve.
The initial session will involve exploring the issues that are causing you difficulty in your life. A treatment plan will be devised and discussed with you. Together we will work to make important changes toward your valued life directions.
Individual therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes long and tend to be weekly.
The cost per session is $160. If you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP the out of pocket cost will be $41. Subsidized rates are available for concession holders.
Mind Potential Clinical Psychologists utilise mindfulness and acceptance based therapies including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). The aim of acceptance and mindfulness based approaches is to enable the individual to become more aware of the present moment especially unhelpful thoughts and thinking process. Strategies will focus on relating differently to these patterns of thinking, turning towards life, not away from it, and moving forward in a valued and vital direction.
